Pullen Fountain

It  looks like work has just about been completed around the Pullen Fountain on Federal Street (located right behind the central fire station on Congress Street). The fountain is a horse watering trough and is named after Stanley Thomas Pullen, who was a president of  the Maine State Society  for the  Protection of Animals. The benches and granite pavement are new, as well as the traffic barriers along the road to protect the fountain from snowplows and closely parked cars.

Here's a photo I took in in 2009 of  the fountain,  looking in the other direction:

  1. The renovations made a huge difference! Very nice.

  2. Interesting fountain! I have never seen one like that before.

  3. This is wonderful!! Thank you so much for sharing with us!!
