Western Prom, May 2016
A recent photo from one of my favorite stretches of the Western Promenade. The landscaping at this house always deserves a few photos this time of year when everything is in bloom.

Throwback: Central Provisions, Feb. 2016
In the spirit of Throwback Thursday, here's a glimpse in time back to February. The warm light emanating from Central Provisions caught my eye on this chilly winter evening.

Congress Square Park Sign
A fresh new sign at Congress Square Park. They have lots of events for this summer posted already on their website (congresssquarepark.org) from knitting to yoga to classic movies.

U.S. Custom House, Looking Up
Today I enjoyed visiting a bunch of sites that are not usually open to the public, as part of the annual "Magical History Tour." The tour is put on by and benefits the Maine Historical Society. This first photo is from before we entered the U.S. Custom House in the Old Port. This is from below the Fore Street entrance, looking up.

Deering Oaks, May 2016
I'm enjoying the return of greenery to Portland's Deering Oaks Park. The Portland Farmers Market has returned as well, and is here every Saturday from 7am-1pm.

Walk on the High Line, NYC
Still working through my NYC photos from last week. Today's three shots are from the High Line. Per Wikipedia, the High Line is a "1.45-mile-long linear park built in Manhattan on an elevated section of a disused New York Central Railroad spur." As someone who loves reading about urban design and issues related to walking/cycling, I recall following along with this project when construction first started in 2006. So it was great to finally experience it in person!

NYC Ferry
From last week, some views from the ride back to the city aboard the Staten Island Ferry. It was well worth the cost (free)!

Gapstow Bridge in Central Park
The iconic Gapstow Bridge in New York's Central Park. This version of the bridge dates back to 1896. I've seen a lot of cool shots from this general angle, so I had to put my own spin on it when I saw it on the map.

Grand Central
I just got back from a five day trip down to NYC. As a fan of cities and history, it's been on my to do list for a long time. I was primarily spending quality time with my girlfriend and her friend who we were staying with, but I still got to grab a few photos here and there from Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. So stay tuned for those.

Ice Cream Season
The "open" sign has been aglow outside of Beal's Ice Cream shop in the Old Port. It's a good sign that summer is on its way.

Custom House Wharf, April 2016
A recent nighttime shot along Custom House Wharf with the moon up above. I'm not sure if it's possible to take a bad photo from this spot.

Road Trip: Boothbay Harbor
Finally made a day trip up to Boothbay Harbor a few weekends ago. I grabbed a few quick shots while I was there. It seems like a charming little town, especially this time of year.
