West End Fog
The heat wave from earlier this week calmed down a bit and resulted in an oddly foggy day yesterday. Here are two shots from the West End neighborhood:

Charles Shipman Payson Building
The Charles Shipman Payson Building, the big brick building that is at the heart of the Portland Museum of Art, is celebrating its 30th birthday this year. I'm generally not a fan of blank walls in an urban environment, but the exterior of this building doesn't bother me too much. It was designed by architect Henry N. Cobb, who has an impressive resume of buildings including Boston's John Hancock Tower and Los Angeles's Library Tower/U.S. Bank Tower. If you want to check out the Portland Museum of Art on the cheap, admission is free every Friday (not just First Friday) from 5-9pm.

Before I Die
Before I die I took a photo of this "Before I Die" wall off of Commercial Street (on the side of RiRa's/Flatbread Pizza). There are some interesting answers to the question, although a lot of them were washed away due to the rain this morning.

Old Port Festival 2013 - The Parade
These three photos show a portion of the parade making it's way down Exchange Street. The parade traditionally kicks off the Old Port Festival every year around 11am.

At the Terminal
These two photos, taken on separate occasions, are form the Casco Bay Lines ferry terminal. This short corridor connecting two sides of the terminal always catches my eye due to the contrast in lighting and the amount of people that are usually passing through here.

Old Port Festival 2013 - Exchange Street
For my continuing coverage of last weekend's Old Port Festival, here is a simple scene from Exchange Street:

Sunset over India Street
Today's photo goes along with an India Street-related event that is happening this Thursday, June 13th, from 6-8pm at City Hall. The results from a public meeting back in March concerning the future of the India Street Neighborhood will be discussed at this Thursday's meeting. You can get all the details of the upcoming meeting from the press release on the City's website. The feedback from these meetings will be used to help shape the neighborhood in the future through things such as zoning changes and creating ordinances.

Old Port Festival 2013 - Spose
Today's recap of the 2013 Old Port Festival includes photos of Wells, Maine musician Spose. Not really my cup of tea, but he seems pretty popular with the kids these days. Thanks again to Goodwill Industries of Northern New England for the passes to the patio.

Old Port Festival 2013 - Paranoid Social Club
Today ended up being a beautiful day for the 40th annual Old Port Festival. It sounds like everything went as planned and everyone had a good time. I'm not sure what the official crowd size estimate was, but there were a lot of people out and about.
As you may have seen on the Portland Daily Photo Facebook Page, I asked a few days ago if anyone had access to any unique locations around the Old Port from where I could take pictures. Thanks to a gracious offer from the good folks at Goodwill Industries of Northern New England, I was given a pretty exclusive pass to get up to the patio at One City Center. Several bands performed throughout the day up on the patio. Here are some of my photos of Portland's own Paranoid Social Club.

Old Port Triple Shot
In anticipation of tomorrow's Old Port Festival, here are three shots from last October. The third one you should recognize, but I don't believe I ever shared the first two.

Portland Rising
Time to look at a few of the construction projects taking place on the peninsula. First up is the Bay House, a "luxury condominium residence... in Portland's Eastern Waterfront District."

And not far from the above location, we have the Hyatt Place hotel on Fore Street reaching some impressive heights:
