Some Old, Some New

Where the narrow gauge railroad tracks end on Thames Street. This area has evolved a lot - from a railyard (for full size trains), to empty dirt lots, to its current form which will also evolve in the future.

New Port Rising

A mix of old and new in the India Street Neighborhood. Wil be interesting to see how this area feels in a decade or two. I enjoy living somewhere that has history but is not a museum. so seeing the city grow is a positive in my book. Also makes for interesting new photo opportunities.

American Dream Rising

A building rising behind "The American Dream" sculpture in Lincoln Park. One of the questions asked by Judith Hoffman, the artist of the piece, is "how does a society that so highly values the material gain embodied in home ownership transcend self-interest and become community?" The contrast with the new construction, a shared living space (albeit an luxurious one), caught my eye. You can read more about the sculpture here.

Time for Change

Looking up at the old clock at 749 Congress Street, in the West End. The building behind it, a former funeral home, has been vacant for years but is currently being redeveloped into a hotel, spa, and restaurant.

Longfellow Square Rising

Some legit construction happening over Henry's shoulder. Looking east from Longfellow Square you can see the work under way to build 667 Congress Street. The former retail tenant, Joe's Smoke Shop & Super Variety Store, will return along with the addition of many new apartments.

Reclaiming Spring Street

Glad to see that work is under way on Spring Street as a result of the "Spring Street - Free Street Area Streetscape Plan" from a few years ago.  In addition to removal of the center median and the addition of better pedestrian and bicycle amenities, the more urban street will make several spots more attractive for future development.
