Anthem of the Seas

I was among the crowds admiring the enormous "Anthem of the Seas" cruise ship on its most recent visit to town. The ship is 1,139 feet long and has more decks (18) than the tallest building in Portland has floors (Franklin Towers has 16 floors).

Corner Office

Looks like someone is working late in the corner office. Looking up at the Time & Temperature Building at 477 Congress Street.

Dock Fore, September 2016

Bike on Brackett St.

Not the most action-packed photo, but the positioning of this bike in the soft evening light on Brackett Street was enough to make me stop for a few moments.

Puddle Hopping

Can't stroll down Custom House Wharf without taking a photo from this nearly-perpetual puddle. I wonder what a photo from this spot will look like 100 years from now. Perhaps it will all be underwater by then?

Fore & Market, September 2012

Since it is Thursday, let's look back at a photo from a year gone by. This one is from September 2012, at the corner of Fore and Market Streets. Front and center is the Mariner's Church building, a historic church and commercial building built in 1828.

Henry at 128

The Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Statue was dedicated 128 years ago this month. Henry still sits proudly in the square that also bears his name.

Cruise Ship Season

The season of cruise ships is upon us. According to knowledgeable sources, this year Portland will host "77 cruise ship visits with more than 106,000 passengers." The majority of ships visit in September and October.

Higgins Beach

Went for a nice bicycle ride down to Higgins Beach in Scarborough this afternoon. It's a fun and easy ride from Downtown Portland.

Art on the Walls
