A snowy view up State Street from where it crosses Danforth Street. Based on the current predictions, we will have much more snow to enjoy in a couple days.

Carroll Street, January 2015
Here is the first of many photos from today's snow event, taken on Carroll Street in the West End. I'm sure I'm not the only photographer who has been waiting for some fresh snow to take photos of.

Acrobatic Dogs
A collage of photos featuring the appropriately named piece of art, "Acrobatic-Dogs," by Bernard Langlais. This is located at the Portland Public Library, and is just one of several Langlais pieces that are now in Portland. You can check out the others at the Portland Public Art Committee's website, as well as the Langlais Art Trail website.

Ice Skating at Deering Oaks
The pond at Deering Oaks was in pretty good shape last weekend and I found a few people taking advantage of it:

Union Bagel Co.
Pictured today is the cozy headquarters of Union Bagel Co. at 147 Cumberland Avenue. You can also find their bagels at several coffee shops around town. Their location on Cumberland Avenue has a history of successful restaurants and bakeries: It was previously home to Katie Made Bakery (now located on Congress Street) and Silly's (now located on Washington Avenue.).

Maine Wharf - January 2015
The new building on Maine Wharf appears to be nearing completion (on the outside at least). It is confirmed that the ground floor will include a new restaurant by the owners of Fore Street. It also appears that retailer Casco Bay Artisans, formerly on Market Street, will be moving into this new building.

First Friday Art Walk - September 2014
These photos are a little late, but I just got around to editing them. As we are currently in the depth of winter, maybe these photos from a warmer time will brighten your day as well. These are just a few shots around Congress Square during the September art walk:

Looking Into the Past: Custom House Wharf
Not a lot has changed at Custom House Wharf in the past 60 years. The old photo that is blended in with my photo taken on Sunday afternoon is from the Portland Public Library's archives and was taken in 1955.

Otto / Enzo
From the January First Friday, a peek inside Otto Pizza's next door dining area, known as Enzo. The line of people sitting up against the window seemed like an interesting visual.

Before & After: Congress at Casco Street
This amazing "before" photo comes from a post by Clyde Chapman in the Facebook group known as "Portland Maine Encyclopedia of the 1960's, 70's & 80's." It's from the corner of Congress Street and Casco Street, looking west:
And here is my interpretation of the photo, taken yesterday morning:

Sunday Snow
I had to get out this morning for a few photos of the snow (only a few inches) that fell overnight before the rain comes to wash it away:

I was waiting for some fresh snow, but ended up giving in and taking a few photos of the lights in Tommy's Park a few evenings ago:
