Ship Shape

The United States Coast Guard Cutter named Escanaba (WMEC-907) docked at the marine terminal for the day. This particular vessel is based in Boston.

Tall Ship Tour

Tall Ships Portland

From today's Tall Ships Portland parade of sail, a view of the masts on the El Galeón Andalucía. El Galeón is "a replica of a 16th-17th century galleon, the only one in the world that sails in present days." Several ships will be open for tours during the festival Sunday and Monday.

Knotted

The cleverly named vessel, Deja Vu II, temporarily tied up to the little beach in South Portland near the Casco Bay Bridge. 

Harbor Watch

Looking beyond the Custom House towards the harbor. The Nova Star ferry can be seen backing into its spot at Ocean Gateway.

Shipyard Summer Festival 2014

The first annual Shipyard Brewing Summer Festival was held this past weekend on the Maine State Pier. Shipyard, whose brewery is located nearby on Newbury Street, is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. As you can see from the photo below, it looks like the music piece of the event on Saturday was a success. 5k and half marathon races were also held as part of the event on Sunday, with proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland and Cancer Community Center.
