City of Ships - Bath, Maine
Made it up to the City of Bath today. First time wandering around the quaint downtown. Big fan of their City Hall building in particular.

The late afternoon sunlight touches the Portland skyline from the South Portland side of the Casco Bay Bridge.

Custom House Wharf, February 2016
I think this photo nicely captures the essence of Custom House Wharf. Capturing steam at night is one of my favorite things to do, so I knew I had a keeper as soon as I snapped this shot.
February Rain
A rainy scene last night where Forest Avenue meets Congress Street. I always enjoy the visual interest that umbrellas add to a photo.

Signal to Signal
The Portland Observatory, a maritime signal tower built back in 1807, is just visible in this photo from the corner of Middle and Franklin Streets.

Road Trip: Annapolis
For something different, here are a few snapshots from Annapolis, Maryland from last week. I wasn't there to take photos, but was able to grab a few while wandering around the downtown. Seems like a pleasant place with a lot of history.

XOXO
The Time and Temperature Building reminds us that Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. If the Valentine Bandit(s) can handle the expected overnight low temperature of -8° fahrenheit then be on the look for hearts all over town tomorrow.

One India Street
Pictured at the bottom of India Street is the old Grand Trunk Railway steamship office building. The building dates back to 1903 and is the last remaining piece of what used to be a bustling railroad complex in this neighborhood. I'm happy to see the building is now being saved from decay by local bank Gorham Savings Bank (this is not a paid endorsement, but I use them for my small business checking) and will soon get a much needed facelift.

Flag Buoys
A photo of the new art installation outside of the Longfellow House / Maine Historical Society headquarters on Congress Street. These painted buoys are part of a project by artist Natasha Mayers with the Portland Public Schools. Per this news release, "under Natasha’s leadership, community members and students are working together to paint buoys depicting the flags of the more than 70 countries represented by Portland's newest residents."

Last Light Over Cumberland Avenue
The last light of tonight's sunset beyond Cumberland Avenue. I'm pretty happy that it's not completely dark when I get home from work now.
Footbridge
Since it's Thursday, it's time to go into the archives and post a previously unseen photo. This photo of the footbridge atop Jewell Falls (part of the Portland Trails network) is from last October.

City Hall Stairs
A wide angle view of the main stairway within Portland City Hall. The building, which was opened in 1912, was designed by the architecture firm of Carrère and Hastings. Some of their other classic buildings include the New York Public Library and the Standard Oil Building (also in New York).
