Ice Skating at Deering Oaks
The pond at Deering Oaks was in pretty good shape last weekend and I found a few people taking advantage of it:

Game Over
Pictured today is the baseball field at Deering Oaks Park on a recent evening. There was nobody left around but the stadium lights were still on and I couldn't resist capturing the sunset in the background.

Reader Photo - Hadlock Field
Today I have a "reader photo" from flickr user sheldoyle. Check out her photostream here for some other top-notch photos around Portland. This photo is of Hadlock Field, which is the home of the Portland Sea Dogs, the AA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

An impromptu shot of the Portland Exposition Building (The Expo) and a portion of Hadlock Field, home to the AA Boston Red Sox affiliate the Portland Sea Dogs. Also prominent in the picture are a lot of power lines which would look better underground. The expo is 'the 2nd oldest arena in continuous operation in the United States,' and opened in 1915 according to their website. Pretty neat stuff. They have a lot of high school basketball games and things like that there now, as most bigger events need the space of the civic center.

Hockey

The Portland Pirates, AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have been having a surprisingly goood season so far, tied for second place in their conference. Hockey is a good enterainment option during the cold and generally quiet winter time. http://www.portlandpirates.com/
