New & Improved Veterans Bridge
As I mentioned just a couple days ago, the new Veterans Bridge opened today. I included a tour of it on my evening bicycle expedition and snapped a few photos. Construction crews are still finishing up some odds and ends but it's fully open now and worth checking out!

Out Here in the Fields
Two views of Portland from Bug Light Park across the harbor. This was last weekend when the sun was just starting to break through the haziness.

New Veterans Bridge
Here's a peak at the new Veterans Memorial Bridge that connects Portland and South Portland over the Fore River. According to this article in the Press Herald the bridge opens to the public this Thursday. The improvements for pedestrians and bicycles on the bridge (and their connections on both ends) are my favorite parts of the new design.

Falmouth Town Landing
These photos are from a bicycle ride last month to Falmouth's Town Landing. It's pretty close to downtown Portland, about seven miles away, and a really scenic area to visit by bicycle. There's some info about the town landing on the Falmouth website, here.

Eastern Promenade Tracks
These are from earlier this evening, taken along the narrow gauge railroad tracks on the Eastern Promenade. Stay tuned for some more photos from this area in the next few days.

It's Now Summer
Here is a photo of the Time and Temperature building and it's electronic sign at 7:09 this evening, the moment that summer officially began in the Northern Hemisphere. As you can see (and could feel in person), the warm temperature today was quite summer-like.

Yarn Bomb
The sculpture on the corner of Free and Temple streets, named "Michael," is sporting a (temporary) new look. Check out this article in the Press Herald for more info about this pleasant incident of yarn bombing. I've always thought this sculpture would look better with some color on it.

Telephone Line
From a purely photographic perspective, I would like it if all the telephone/electrnical wires of downtown Portland were put underground. Sometimes they can add to an image, but I usually feel the opposite way.

Odds and Ends - April 2012
Here are a few "odds and ends" from April. My best photos do get posted on my blog, but I take way more photos than however many I usually post each month. So these are some from April that I felt like sharing before they get too old:
