Goodbye 2014

Another year has quickly come and gone! 2014 was a good year for photography, and I appreciate the visits and feedback from everyone who visits this blog and who follows my work on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and my official photography website

Over the course of the year I had over 80 different clients/customers, which is pretty amazing. Here are just a few of the highlights of my published work. From top left going clockwise: The Courtyard Marriott Portland Downtown/Waterfront, Portland's Downtown District, Downeast Magazine Instagram Takeover, Portland Magazine December 2014, and the Greater Portland Convention and Visitors Bureau Event Planner's Guide.

As I like to do at the end of each year, here is a photo from each of the previous 12 months and a friendly reminder that the full archives of my site, containing thousands of photos, is available by clicking over on the "blog archive" section on the right side of the page, using the search bar at the top of the page,  or scrolling through my feed on the previously linked social media sites.

December Black & White

Here are three recent-ish black and white photos with nothing in common other than their lack of color.

Long Wharf, Nov. 2014

A pleasant scene from Long Wharf after the small amount of snow we received in November:

Christmas in the City

A rainy and quiet Monument Square on Christmas Morning. I'm hoping it snows before they take down the tree so I can get some seasonally appropriate photos of it. I wish you all a Merry Christmas a good day in general.

Staples School

An aerial view of the old Staples School at 70-74 Center Street. The school, which is near Gorham's Corner,  became office space in 1980 according to this interesting Maine Irish Heritage Trail article

Parade of Lights 2014

Pictured are two shots from last evening's annual "Parade of Lights" fireworks display. The main attraction was the boats and sailboats decorated in Christmas lights, however, those were quite difficult to photograph from across the harbor.

Old Henry

The Henry Wadsworth Longfellow statue, the centerpiece of Longfellow Square, is decorated for the holidays. Now we just need some snow instead of rain/ice.

Looking into the Past: Longfellow Square

A "postcard view" of Longfellow Square, looking down State Street. Other than the impressive amount of street trees and two-way traffic on State Street, the view is much the same today. The old-timey postcard is from here

March to End Violence: Solidarity for Racial Justice

Here are some photos from today's "March to End Violence: Solidarity for Racial Justice" along Congress Street. The march was put on my several organizations: NAACP Portland Branch, Portland Racial Justice Congress, Southern Maine Workers Center, USM Voices of Difference and Unity, Code Pink, Veterans for Peace, ACLU of Maine and Peace Action Maine.

Equine Find

Pictured is a miniature bust of a horse atop a post on Spring Street.  I'm not sure if this has any current functionality other than decoration, but I imagine you could temporarily tie a small horse or dog up to the post when visiting a nearby house.
