An early-evening shot of the new signage outside of the Press Hotel. Located in the former Portland Press Herald newspaper building, the newspaper-themed boutique hotel and a first floor restaurant named M.C. Union will be opening this spring.

Seasons of Portland
As we prepare for the actual (non-calendar) change from winter to spring, here is a collage of photos from each season in Portland.

Western Promenade - March 2015
A recent view from the Western Promenade, looking towards Maine Medical Center. The melting snow is making for some nice reflections all over town.

The Sun & Tide
Taken on another cold morning a few weeks ago, in the park next to the Ocean Gateway terminal (known as Moon Tide Garden/Park I believe)

Twin Doors on Danforth
Since it still feels a bit winterlike outside, I'll go ahead and share this photo from January today. Taken on Danforth Street during a light snowfall.

January vs. June - Eastern Prom
A summer/winter view of the Eastern Promenade. Now that it's officially spring we can start looking forward to experiencing the more hospitable looking version of this scenic spot.

Cold Blue Skyline
A view last evening looking over the Post Office and towards Monument Square. The Time & Temp sign is currently raising awareness of the WMPG annual spring donations drive.

Spring Time
It appears that the spring season officially starts later today. Perhaps this photo would have made more sense a few weeks ago for the beginning of Daylight Saving Time, but yeah.

Bayside Glacier - Summit
As mentioned yesterday, here are a few photos from the top of the Bayside Glacier. If the scaled-down Midtown Project, which is still moving through the Planning Board process, gets built then this will be the view from roughly the third floor.
Here is a rendering of the Midtown Project, via the Planning Department website. The glacier is in the spot of the third building to the right:

Bayside Glacier - Base Camp
Here are a couple views from the bottom of the Bayside Glacier last weekend. This temporary geographical feature comes together each winter as the city dumps snow here from downtown streets and sidewalks. Tomorrow I will share photos from my expedition to the peak.

Central Provisions
A view of the Wharf Street entrance to Central Provisions. The restaurant and bar, which opened a little over a year ago, quickly established itself as a destination and was even nominated for "best new restaurant" by the James Beard Foundation.

Stroudwater River Ice
From this afternoon, a view of where the Stroudwater River empties in the Fore River and Casco Bay. This was a quick cellphone shot from my bike ride home from work. I was originally interested in the frozen waterfall on the other side of the bridge (like this, but colder) but found this more compelling.

Back Towards Commercial Street
Looking back from the end of the Maine State Pier. The new building on Maine Wharf, to the left, adds some interesting colors to the mix.

Steps & Shadows
Interesting shadows on the steps to City Hall. There was a local television news crew with a spotlight to the right of the frame which created said shadows.

Underneath the Clouds
I was able to get a little bit of the cloud movement in this photo from last week, looking towards the People's United Bank and Time & Temperature Buildings.
