Here are some behind-the-scenes photos of the new restaurant named Salvage BBQ. It is located at 919 Congress Street, in a cool old building that was once home to Portland Architectural Salvage. Salvage BBQ is brought to you by the good folks behind the well-respected Local 188 and Sonny's.
A recent article in the Munjoy Hill News blog indicates that Salvage BBQ could be open as early as next week. I look forward to getting back for some photos once everything is up and running.
I see this is very near the Maine Medical Center. There's a Famous Dave's BBQ chain restaurant in Scarborough, which I enjoyed on a 2011 visit. Hopefully, this place will be just as good. :)
ReplyDeleteMy family and I are visiting next week, so it would be great if it's open by then. It looks like such a great space!
ReplyDeletelooks like what a bbq joint should!
ReplyDeleteI work at Maine Med and I'm really looking forward to this opening! I think they will have a very nice lunchtime crowd.
ReplyDeleteLooks a lot like a Buck's Naked BBQ... just saying.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely - very, very similar looking interior.
DeleteThis place does look like Bucks Naked BBQ a lot, same colors etc.... I love Bucks atmosphere they have come a long way and their food rocks! I'm curious how salvage "q" will be...I "m looking forward to checking it out.
DeleteBBQ in Maine!! Yeah baby!
The original building was built for Railway Express Company. They were a private rail shipper, and built near the old Union Station to take advantage of the rail service.
ReplyDeleteI have loved this building since I first moved to Portland! Thank you for this post; I know where we are having dinner next week.
