Portland Monthly Photo 2011
I did this last year, so I figure I should make this a yearly tradition. Here is a photo from each month of 2011. Not necessarily my "best" or favorite photo from each month, but a photo from each month nonetheless. You can check out the monthly archives of this site at anytime by scrolling down to the "Blog Archive" section in the right hand column.

That's all for now. Thanks for a great year! This site had over 60,000 unique visitors this year (a number that goes up every year). And that number doesn't include the people who follow this blog via a feed or the people who may only view my photos on other sites (Flickr, Tumblr, Corey Templeton Photography, etc) and never actually visit this blog. Stay tuned for another year of photos from Portland.

Under Construction: September 2014 (2)
I left a few locations off of my post earlier this month so it's time for another entry.
First is the project on Maine Wharf (to the left) which may include a restaurant on the first floor and office space above:
Sheridan Street Apartments, which will sit on a 45 degree incline below Standpipe Park. Hoping the views from the Park aren't negatively impacted.
Munjoy Heights rises in the distance. And in the foreground, the current location of Casale's Auto on Washington Avenue may become the site of East Cove Townhomes.
And for good measure, an update on West End Place.

Sunset Through the Trees
This photo was taken right before this set of photos posted earlier this week from Standpipe Park.
And for fun, here is the straight-out-of-camera photograph, without any corrections made:

Top 5: Places to Photograph the Portland Skyline
Here are my picks for the top 5 places from which to photograph the Portland, Maine skyline, using photos that I've taken over the years. Portland's skyline is not quite as impressive as New York's or San Francisco's, but it gets the job done. One's initial impression of the city can depend on which angle the city is viewed. To the list, in no real particular order:
1. From the Casco Bay Bridge. If I was introducing someone to Portland for the first time, the view from the bridge would be a good first impression, especially by foot or bicycle.
2. Undisclosed location. This view from the north and west of the peninsula is pretty unique. Given the terrain of the area, there aren't a lot of places where you can get a view of the city from this far away. View the below photo much larger on my flickr.
3. University of Southern Maine Campus. Just across I-295, the USM campus has some good views from the parking garage, pictured below, or from some of the top floors of the academic buildings. The below photo is from 2006, I should try to take the photo again sometime.
4. Intermed Building, Bayside. Although taking a photo from this building means that the skyline view doesn't include the Intermed building (not a huge loss though), it affords quite a view over Bayside.
5. Standpipe Park and/or North Street, Munjoy Hill. This is one of my favorite places to view the city's skyline. Here's an example:
I would do 5 more but I have run out of time. Maybe that will be a post next week, stay tuned!

Sunset Over Snow
These photos are from last weekend, taken at Standpipe Park on North Street. I couldn't pick just one to share, so I figured I would give you all three.
