Museum of Art Projection

A few photos from last nights projection event at the Museum of Art. This was done in conjunction with a talk by the artist, Jenny Holzer.

City Hall Menorah

This is the menorah in front of  City Hall from two slightly different angles. I should have also gotten a picture of it  from the front but it was kind of cold that day. I still have two more nights so I may have another chance to photograph it.

Also, new pedestrian detection system at the intersection of Commercial and Franklin Streets, covered by Walk Around Portland:

Farmhouse

This is the Deering Farmhouse, located on the USM campus. The land that USM occupies was once a farm. For geographical reference, there is an old thyme map here at the Maine Memory site.

Brick & Glass

The old Nissen factory on Washington Avenue on a nice blue-sky day. Some say the smell of fresh baked bread still haunts this area; most people do not say that.

Casco Bank Block on Middle Street

I wish they still built banks, or any buildings, like this. This is the former Casco National Bank location on Middle Street. The ground floor is currently occupied by Akari Salon.

'Tis the Season

 This is Emerald City, located at 611 Congress Street in the State Theater Building. I hear it's a good place to start the holiday season shopping.

If you are around town today, the annual tree lighting in Monument Square is at 5:30pm, it's a good event for the family. Also in Monument Square, the Public Library will be having an open house from 3-6pm.
