Snowy Oak

I thought I posted this days ago, but don't see it...so here you go. It is very lightly snowing this morning (supposed to get about an inch total) so this picture is kind of fitting.

Porteous Mitchell & Braun

I think they should repaint this sign, for the sake of nostalgia. This is the former Porteous Mitchell and Braun department store on Congress Street, which since 1993 has been the flagship building for the Maine College of Art.

Here's my first attempt at a new Portland's Downtown District logo. I had a visitor who works for PDD comment on my earlier post about their logo, so I hope she sees this also. I will periodically post new version when I am feeling creative.

Size

This is a cell phone picture from the summer. The Casco Bay ferries are usually the biggest things in these waters except for when it's cruise ship season.

Portland's Art District

From left to right, Arts District bulletin, Starbucks/The Hay Building, Children's Museum, and Museum of Art. There is also a snow covered road between the bulletin and the buildings.

Portland's Downtown District

Portlandmaine.com is the virtualhome of Portland's Downtown District.

According to their About Us section...

Portland's Downtown District (PDD) is a not-for-profit 501c(4) organization
founded in 1992. It is funded by a tax assessment on property within the
boundaries of the District. All property owners and tenants are considered
members of Portland's Downtown District.

The mission of Portland's Downtown District (PDD) is to act as a leader and facilitator in the support and promotion of the economic vitality of downtown Portland.

You may also see their logo here and there around town, they also have the tagline "love.downtown.more." :




It's not horrible looking. I don't mind the colors. but it looks like what I see when I take my glasses off. I think a more clear and to the point logo would be appropriate. It would be a plus also if it evoked imagery of the city instead of myopia.
