Tina Marie

A boat named Tina Marie docked in Portland Harbor. I believe this is Wright's Wharf.

The Longfellow House

The historic Henry Wadsworth Longfellow House on Congress Street. The house and its garden (behind the building) is open to the public as a museum and is part of the Maine Historical Society

Congress Street Camouflage

These folks caught my eye from across the street due to the similarities between their outfits and the art directly behind them on the corner of Congress and High Streets.

Portland is for the Birds

Some friendly geese hanging out on the waterfront on a warm spring evening.

Gorham's Corner

A rainy springtime photo of the Gorham's Corner neighborhood of Portland.  The statue in the center of the photo is of native son and famed director John Ford

Flower and Sunset

Something a little different for today's post. This photo of a yellow daffodil on the Western Promenade was taken earlier this evening. I rarely take photos of flowers photos and I never post photos that  haven't been edited in Lightroom or Photoshop, so this photo goes against both of those precedents.

Spring is in the Air

A Gentle Blue

A long-ish exposure (6 seconds) from the same spot as yesterday's photo in South Portland. It was hard figuring out the colors in this photo, due to the bright morning light in the foreground and the extra saturation of of the water due to using a long exposure.

Black and white version:

Port and Land

Portland Maine Skyline City Spring 2013 by Corey Templeton

A view of the Portland skyline from the Mill Creek area of South Portland. This photo (and lots of others) is available to purchase at Corey Templeton Photography in print or digital form.

Goose on the Loose

A relatively new sign in the Stroudwater Village area of Portland. Some day I will have to get some photos of the local goose population that gathers in this area.

Dark and Dreary

A view of Franklin Street from a recent evening. I was actually trying to capture the colorful sunset in the distance, but I liked the black and white version of this a little more. I'll post a color version someday soon.

Hodgepodge

Some art-in-progress on a (hopefully temporary) facade in Congress Square:

And some black and white, because I like this version:

Patricia Ann

A fishing boat from Chebeague Island docked on Long Wharf.
Also, I recently obtained a copy of the new 2013-2014 Portland Downtown District Map & Directory, featuring two of my photos on the cover (the top two). The guide is available at many retail stores and restaurants all over the peninsula, so pick up a copy.

Before & After: Trains on the Eastern Prom

The "before photo" was taken in 1966 and is from the Portland, Maine History 1786 to Present Facebook Group. This valuable strip of land along the Eastern Promenade Trail may once again be used for rail transportation in the future according to some proposals to re-connect Portland and Lewiston (and other towns) with regular passenger service.

Monument Squared

One of Portland's most-photographed squares, Monument Square. The color version of this photo has a nice blue look to it, since it was taken during the "blue hour" right after sunset. I couldn't get it to look quite right though, so I resorted to black and white.

Top of the East

A photo from earlier today showing the additions being made to the Top of the East restaurant/lounge atop the former Eastland Hotel. When the hotel reopens later this year it will be the Westin Portland Harborview.

There's Two Sides to Every Street

Sticking with the Bayside theme, today's photo is from Kennebec Street. This is the street on the other side of the brick storage building seen in yesterday's photo. In the distance you can see the Whole Foods Market, a positive sign of the future of this neighborhood, and the spot of last Tuesday's photo.

To the Right

Looking up Franklin Street from Commercial Street. I will have to do this shot again later some evening so the sky doesn't appear as washed out.

Next Ship Out of Town

One of Eimskip's container ships departing Portland harbor last weekend, viewed from Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth. In the distance is Ram Island Ledge Light

And in case anyone hasn't seen it yet, here is a really neat time-lapsed and tilt-shifted video of Portland called "Mini Maine." The artist is not from around here, but they have some other videos of other New England cities in addition to exotic places around the globe.

Kennebec Street

An early-evening view of Kennebec Street in the Bayside neighborhood. I imagine that a few decades from now this photo will be almost unrecognizable due to the (generally positive) developments in the area.

Portland Daily Postcard

It's been just about a year since I introduced the instantly popular Portland Daily Photo subscription plans (remember to renew your annual subscription now, before it's too late!), so I think it's a good time to announce my latest venture: Portland Daily Postcard.

That's right, an entire year of postcards, delivered to your doorstep nearly every day (pending the solvency of the United States Postal Service) for just $1 a day. Each postcard features a relatively beautiful photo of Portland plus a handwritten message on the back. When you think about it, how can you afford not to sign up or this opportunity?

How often have you been reading Portland Daily Photo and thought to yourself: "Golly, I like seeing all these dandy photos of Portland for free at my own convenience, but it would really be the bee's knees if I could pay money for this and also have a stack of useless postcards cluttering my home!" If that is something you have ever said, then this offer is for you.

Here are a few samples to whet your appetite:

Stay tuned for more information about where to sign up for this unique offer. In the meantime, you can enter this giveaway on my Facebook group to win a 12X18" print of your choice from Corey Templeton Photography.
