Bits and Pieces

This sign is just outside of my abode. I uploaded this photo to Unseen Portland recently and Portland Food Map noted that the Neon Diner was in business from 1991-1995. Whenever a new restaurant opens here, there have been several, they take down the old sign which reveals the old diner's sign beneath. The new restaurant  will be called "Gogi," an "Asian fusion restaurant."

  2. I grew up in and around Portland and I remember the Neon Diner. I never ate there, but was in Portland with some musician friends who had a gig in town. Some of them went out looking for a place to eat and saw a neon sign that said "wine."
They went in and looked over the menu. When the waitress stopped by their table, they ordered some wine. Their waitress informed them that the Neon Diner didn't serve wine, they just had the sign because it was neon.

  3. Does anyone know when Gogi is opening? It seems like they've been working in there a very long time!

  5. I look forward to checking the place out. The new Gogi sign is up and you can see inside the place again.
