Brick by Fassett

Two beautiful brick buildings designed by Francis Fassett in Portland's West End. The Mellen E. Bolster House on Congress Street is now home to boutique hotel The Francis and restaurant Bolster, Snow & Co. And the other building pictured is one of my favorite residential buildings on Pine Street.

The Cross Street

Looking up Cross Street, the little section that connects Spring and Free Streets. On the left is Rhum Food + Grog and Arabica Coffee. On the right will eventually be a restaurant called Lio.

A Little Giant

Spanish for the Heart Restaurant

A welcoming sidewalk in front of the newly opened Restaurante El Corazon restaurant in Longfellow Square. The company is still operating their popular food truck, El Corazon, as well.

Time for Change

Looking up at the old clock at 749 Congress Street, in the West End. The building behind it, a former funeral home, has been vacant for years but is currently being redeveloped into a hotel, spa, and restaurant.

Door & Vine

Vines currently cover one of the entrances to a historic property at 749 Congress Street. The building, a former funeral home, has been vacant for a decade but may soon become a small hotel, spa and restaurant. You can read about it here.

Wharf Side

Old Port Arch

A glance up Moulton Street towards the facade of 375 Fore Street, which has been home to Bull Feeney's Irish pub/restaurant since 2002. You can read about the history of this historic building and its various tenants over here.

Isa Bistro

Located down on Portland Street, Isa "is a cozy neighborhood bistro serving an eclectic yet seasonally driven menu." It's interesting to see this part of town evolve over time. 

Grace on Chestnut Street

Looking down Chestnut Street towards Cumberland Avenue. The former church building on the right was built in 1856 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has been home to the restaurant Grace for several years now. 

What's New on Maine Wharf

The new building on Maine Wharf is starting to come to life. The first floor on the side closest to Commercial Street will be the new home of Casco Bay Artisans, while the other end will be occupied by a new upscale seafood restaurant named Scales. A new organization/museum/exhibit space, the Portland Science Center, will occupy some of the upper floors.

Evo

A peek inside of Evo, a new restaurant and bar "serving a modern fusion of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines." It's located in the Hyatt Place hotel building on Fore Street.
