An interesting Thanksgiving morning sunrise, looking towards South Portland:

In other news, if you happen to stop by an independent music store today, such as Maine's Bull Moose, check out the limited edition vinyl single by singer/songwriter Conor Oberst (you might also recognize his band, Bright Eyes). It features one of my photos (original post) on the front and back:

And finally, copies of my 2015 calendar are currently on sale for 35% off using code "WQT32" at checkout. Makes a great gift!

Custom House Wharf Sunrise - Nov. 2014

Pictured today is Saturday's photo-worthy sunrise above Custom House Wharf. Sometimes the coldest days provide the most interesting lighting conditions. This shot was taken while wondering around town with Benjamin Williamson, be sure to check out his amazing photography here and here

End of a Rope

A rope alongside a boat docked at Long Wharf. This photo was taken at night, hence the yellow hue from the artificial lighting.

A musician, later identified as Frank Fotusky, playing an acoustic set at Andy's Old Port Pub on Thursday night. This was shot through the window as I was strolling by.

Bayside Trail - November 2014

A quiet and foggy evening on Bayside Trail last week. If/when the Midtown Project moves forward on this block I'll have to remind myself to use this photo as a "before" view in a "before and after" series.

Under Construction: November 2014

Time for a new entry in the "Under Construction" category. None of the photos from these posts are postcard worthy, but I continue because I find it interesting to see how the urban fabric of the city evolves over time. Once a building is finished it's easy to forget what was there before it, as well the effort that went into creating it.  Maybe in a hundred years someone will Google (or whatever comes after Google) the building they live in and find one of these photos. Anyhow...

Berlin Wall

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Like many cities, Portland has a small piece of the wall on permanent display. I was too young in 1989 to follow current events, so it has been interesting reading about that time in history in various articles this week.

The Seven

Here are a few shots of the brand new installation outside of the Portland Museum of Art. The giant steel Seven, by acclaimed artist and Maine resident Robert Indiana, is 8 feet tall and weighs 3,000 pounds. In addition to being an interesting sculpture, it also is a nod to the Museum's address: 7 Congress Square.

Sometimes the patterns on these poster boards (for lack of a better word) around town have interesting patterns. Advertisements for local events get covered up and partially removed in a seemingly archaic fashion.
