Another take on the "Sunset at Back Cove" theme from the other night:
And if you are on Instagram, I am "taking over" the new Down East Magazine Instagram account (@DownEastMagazine) this weekend. Follow them so you can keep up with my travels around Portland this weekend.
A view of the Eastern Waterfront and Ocean Gateway terminal from the very top of the "Portland House" condos at 45 Eastern Promenade. I've always wanted to see the view from up here and it's everything I hoped for. I'll post more shots from up here throughout the week.
Happy 5th Birthday to Portland's Otto Pizza! I remember when Otto was the new kid on the block, so it's great to see their success over the years as they expanded their original Portland location and branched out to other cities as well. As a reminder to wish them a happy birthday, the Time & Temperature sign is currently flashing "EAT OTTO."
The new restaurant named Slab appears to now be open in the old Public Market Building, facing Preble Street. The restaurant's co-owner Stephen Lanzalotta is credited with creating Portland's original Sicilian Slab at Micucci's on India Street. The outdoor seating area at Slab certainly looks like a nice addition to this area during the warmer months.
A fine day for a walk along the Eastern Promenade Trail, part of the Portland Trails network. Rising above the incline on the lefthand side of the photo is the tripod mast from the USS Portland in Fort Allen Park.
Today is the day to vote in Portland concerning the "Protect our Parks / Save Congress Square Plaza" issue. I am still undecided (voting "no" doesn't mean you dislike parks) although I did donate some photos to the Yes on 1 campaign.
A view last evening of the "Portland Eye," a ferris wheel that is set up on Long Wharf near DiMillo's for this weekend's Old Port Festival. It's not quite as impressive as the London Eye (which is twice as tall as Franklin Towers, Maine's tallest building), but I imagine it will offer some pretty unique views of the waterfront!
